It is Great Honour to Co-chair the First Committee of the General Assembly, Disarmament and International Security. Welcome delegates, my name is Amey and I look forward to hearing the finest debaters’ voice options on the international stage. The UN by design has equal and just representation in the General Assemblies and I encourage you to raise your voice on these sensitive topics, be heard, and make a difference. Here is to a great conference and to a better world, after all the world is yours.

Greetings Delegates and welcome to the esteemed First Committee
The potential threats of non-state actors acquiring military grade weapons are numerous, due to which the coveted world peace seems like a distant dream. Therefore, examining the gravity of the situation from a political and humanitarian perspective, it is imperative to combat the issue that threatens peace and international security. As the President of GA1, I thus expect the delegates to think on their feet, generate concrete solutions and finally weave a committee bubbling with enthusiasm and profound debate.

Welcome to IHMUN'16, I picture model united nations as an amalgam of debate, global issues, witty analogies and a tradition, which DPS, Dubai has been adhering to since the past 4 editions. I still remember my humble beginning as a delegate finding his way through a chaotic lobbying session, and now 3 years later as I finally take on this challenge as a member of this year's secretariat I plan to use my experience, knowledge and passion to produce a memorable yet invigorating conference. IHMUN 2016 has been designed to help in the expression of ideas and opinions of delegates.It brings together intellectual and critical thinkers in a forum added with a little organisation and formal procedure to devise a truly outstanding event. I expect all the delegates to outshine themselves and make the General Assembly the best committee of the confrence.
